Can't configure LDAP location

Feb 3, 2009 at 7:37 PM
I just installed today, activated the Active Directory Tools under Site Collection Features. I then go to web parts to configure the LDAP location. I click the link and nothing happens. In IE, it also says error on page when the web parts page is loaded. Any suggestions?
Thanks

Sounds like a javascript error.  You're setup maybe different than normal.

Can you get to the settings for the web part by going to "Edit" and then "Modify Shared Web Part"?

I can get to edit. I don't see a Modify Shared Web Part area though.

That would indicate that you don't have rights to modify shared web parts...

Ok, I found what you were talking about, just looking in the wrong area. I put the LDAP info in correctly. For the Active Directory Self Service area, nothing shows up though. Do I need to put in domain admin level credentials in there, if so I have tried that.

Ok, never mind again, though thanks for help. I got it to work. One last question, do you recommend any particular authentication method?

I would recommend going with "Secure".  And no - you don't have to have a domain admin account, but you do have to have one who has rights to update user profiles, and the users must be set to "inherit policies" in AD.
